Announcing the USFG Single Stone Contest
We are happy to announce our USFG Single Stone Contest for 2026 and we wanted to make you aware of some of the frequently asked questions. Please see below.
Who can enter?
This is a closed competition; cutters must be current members of the USFG. Membership application/fees/renewals may be submitted with the cutter’s entry or online at https://usfacetersguild.org/become-a-member
Where’s the entry form?
Entry form will be published in the March issue of this newsletter and will also be available
to download on the USFG website at the same time.
How many stones may I submit?
Cutters may only submit a single stone in a single class.
Can I go back a level?
Cutters may not enter stones in a class or division below their prior certifications levels.
At which class can a Grand Master compete?
Certified Grand Masters may only compete in the Grand Master class.
When can I submit my stone for this year’s competition?
This year, entries will be accepted beginning March 1, 2026, and will be accepted until August 1, 2026. Stones must be received at the Stone Handler’s location by August 1,2026. Stones received after that date will be returned (if possible) and will not be accepted for the 2026 SSC.
Where are the rules and the designs?
The rules and the designs are available for download on the USFG Website in the Competition Information section.

Just a new guys question, maybe already been asked thousands times.
First, do I have to finish Novice to join pre master or I can try the pre master level at first time.
Second, single stone in single class means I can only submit one stone at the single class, not the second class. For example, I cannot submit one stone in Novice and one stone in pre master.
Last question, may I use lab created spinel.

Hello Sheng,
You may enter 1 stone in one category each year. If you have never entered before, we recommend that you enter in the Novice level first. , but you may choose to enter in the pre-master level. That is up to you to decide. We would also recommend that you download the rules and read them thoroughly before making that decision. Last, you can use any material for the novice level. For all other levels you must use the material designated on the design sheet. Hope this helps and best of luck to you.

Hello there. I hope to enter the novice single stone.I have seen the snow “?” somethings or others online. Some of them have frosted facets. For this particular stone and diagram (SnowFall 2026 Novice) it doesn’t mention frosting P2, so it’s not supposed to be frosted, correct?
Hope its not a silly question.
