Agreed. In my experience, consistency in SiC grinding rolls matters more than aggressiveness. A controlled grit progression (for example, 240 → 400 → 600/800) with light, even pressure minimizes subsurface damage and makes the transition to polishing much more predictable. Backing quality and fresh abrasive also play a big role in maintaining flatness and scratch uniformity, especially for metallographic samples.
