I spent quite a few hours today without a great deal of success due to my own lack of ability and familiarity with the program. I also jumped in the deep end and tried a rectangular shape straight off which after watching the video again was probably not wise.
The cut I chose was “Tie” by Don Serafin. Rectangle 04-084 which I have used with some success on some of the sapphires we dug during our younger days on the Central Queensland Gemfields around Rubyvale.
I ran into lots of problems trying to set the “marker” point for the second tier of facets so didn’t get to progress beyond that stage. Hours of trying different approaches yielded no better results. Now that I have rewatched the video I think I will do better tomorrow. Will keep you posted.
