From what I’ve learned, diamond is usually the go-to for gemstones and other non-metal materials, since it cuts hard, brittle stuff like quartz and ceramics really efficiently. CBN, on the other hand, is better suited for steel and iron-based materials because it handles heat better and doesn’t react with iron . So for most faceting work, diamond still seems like the better choice. @space waves
