I suppose, but I don’t use enough cutting fluid to bother. It’s either water or a thin film of WD-40. What kind of laps are you using? What cutting fluid?

OK, the bonded Crystalite laps do need a moderate water drip. I don’t see why you can’t filter and reuse it, but I would not use the same liquid for polishing. Remember, we’re talking about sub-micron particles, and the filter probably isn’t that good. Personally, if I use a bonded lap, I use distilled water (88 cents a gallon at Wal-Mart) and a couple drops of Jet-Dry. Dawn dish soap will work, too.

alan’s right you only need enough dripping to remove cuttings and unless your in the middle of a desert i wouldn’t reuse the water, i’ve never used soaps or other fluids on them. and i’ve been cutting for 53 yrs. i have handy irrigation water but wont use it because of possible contaminants.

I use filtered tap water with a couple of drops of Dawn Liquid for cutting, but only distilled water for polishing.
