When cutting agate, jasper, quartz, or even harder materials, the performance of diamond blades for lapidary work seems to depend far more on bond structure and diamond distribution than just blade size or speed.
From what I’ve seen, sintered (metal bond) blades tend to outperform plated ones because they continuously expose new diamonds as the bond wears, leading to more consistent cutting and longer life. They also help reduce chipping and improve surface finish when paired with proper coolant.
