    Hi all,

Newbie here – I have some emeralds that I mined in North Carolina….because I can I would like to try faceting them just to get a feel for what could be done. I don’t really have any idea what laps to begin with but since they have inclusions I am thinking starting with a higher lap than 600? I welcome any advice, experiences or feedback.

I’m in North Carolina as well and have cut material from the Crabtree mine I found back in the early ’80s . The pair of small crystals that’s left…. I like to start out on 3,000 grit and then finish on the batt lap…most of that material is gone sadly and can’t be replaced…..

Thanks Mike – sorry for the tardy reply. I ended up using 600 diamond, 1200 diamond and a batt lap. worked well with .5u voodoo . I’m a newbie so very much appreciate the advice.
