File downloads mostly fail on facetdiagrams.org
hi all,
It appears that most designs on the website have invalid links to pdf and gem files for download. Can anyone confirm that’s the case?

You are correct!
I’ve been told that this database and its designs used to be openly available and persons could obtain the database with all files – some folks in the faceting world still have these! Then came an era where a number of folks decided for various reasons that their designs should no longer be openly available. To be fair, some of those folks published and sold their designs. After much ‘negotiation’, ultimately only certain designs were allowed to remain available. Either folks released their designs to the public or in some cases, SRBs for example, legacy designs with no clear owner were kept.
Sadly, folks have passed on with their designs being forever lost to the faceting community.
On a positive note, in the age of the internet and new, superior CAD programs, we now have available more (and much better) designs than we could ever hope to cut.
