  Historical Competition Cutting Information

  I’m not sure this is the correct forum for my questions(s) but here goes. Our club is starting a faceting focused group – finally – after 75 years. We will have a dedicated work area complete with machines and supplies for teaching beginners.

  I have been looking through the historical competition information and notice some is incomplete as posted on this website. That probably means it is either lost or did not exist, but I have my fingers crossed.

  I am considering making a display of the Novice competition stones starting with the first year listed, 2000. At this point there is only a PDF in the folder for the Novice cut, no Gem Cad file and no cutting notes. Also there is no material or size information, but there is an R.I. listed of 1.540 so it is possible the intent was quartz for this cut. I realize this goes back more than 25 years but I’m hopeful some of the longtime members may be able to supply some items.

  I am also trying to learn Gem Cut Studio so I can take the PDF and make file that is be edited. However, I am not very experienced with these types of graphic applications.

  Several other questions at the moment are:

  1. NAFC – information is posted for years 2003,2005, 2007. Are there other NAFC years?

  2. Is 2000 the first year USFG had a competition or are there other years?

  I can provide a more complete list of wishful documents if there is interest.

  I appreciate any and all help.
