My 911’s PDK is acting jerky in first gear – should I be panicking?
Okay so I’ve had my 991.1 Carrera for about three years now and it’s been an absolute dream to drive, but over the last few weeks I’ve noticed that the PDK transmission has started behaving a bit oddly when I’m pulling away from a standstill in first gear. It feels kind of jerky and hesitant, almost like it’s slipping or engaging roughly, but once I’m moving and it shifts into second gear everything is completely smooth and perfect again. I’ve already done the PDK service at the dealership about 10,000 km ago so I’m pretty sure it’s not just old fluid, which makes me worry that there might be something more serious going on internally like a worn clutch pack or a mechatronics issue. I’ve been reading through Rennlist and some other Porsche forums and it seems like this could be anything from a simple adaptation reset to a failing solenoid or even the beginnings of a major transmission failure, which is honestly keeping me up at night because I know how expensive PDK repairs can get. I really don’t want to take it to the dealer because they’ll probably just quote me for a whole new transmission without even trying to diagnose the actual problem, so I’m looking for an independent specialist who actually understands these gearboxes and can do proper diagnostics with the PIWIS system.
