Are we not entitled to a brief explanation when the newsletter will be late? Keep us informed. We waited on competition news about lost stones and now the newsletter is late with no explanation. Maybe we should hire someone to run things even if it means a dues increase.
Thomas, in an organization that is staffed by all volunteers, a little grace is required.
Gail in Oregon
Gail, I’m treasurer of the car club and they expect me to be on the money every month. No grace. But I took the job and will do my best, if I’m late because of illness I simply inform the members. We just need informed of problems and maybe we could help, and I have offered to assist already.
Thomas, please contact Tom at president@usfacetersguild.org
with your offer. We can always use help. Give him an idea of your talents and time available.
Alan, I already have contacted the president and offered to be stone handler (along with my wife) or judge. I was a master and judge with the old Faceters Guild of Northern California but got away from faceting for awhile so took myself down to premaster and would still like to obtain master certification with the USFG and my wife also competes so that complicates things. I would think as long as someone else judges our stones there wouldn’t be an issue. Not very good at computer tasks so no newsletter editor in my future. I appreciate the work you do just want the group informed when there’s issues like lost stones ( my wifes) or late newsletter and competition. How hard is it to just post a statement in the news section and a brief explanation of why, such as due to illness or whatever the newsletter will be late.
