“Introduction to Meetpoint Faceting”, Lazy Oval calls for establishing size at P2 90 degrees, 94-02-46-50. These are diagonal corners. I want the stone to finish for a 10X8 or 12X10 mm finding. With the diagonals cuts the rectangular rough is 19X11 mm.
I can simply continue with the pavilion and see what the oval size ends up. But, in the future I’d like to end up at the calibrated size I want.

The instructions are to establish width while cutting P2, not to measure the width at P2. Measure the width as the diagram shows, and cut the four P2 facets until it’s right. Go slowly at first. You’ll get better at judging how much to cut.
