Last year, I did a faceting demo at my hackerspace, Ocean State Maker Mill, it was well received to a mostly full room. We discussed having further faceting events, but were limited by our relatively tiny space. We’re moving into a much, much larger room in the same mill building later this year.

Once in, I’m interested in doing a RI/MA/CT (really, anyone could drive from anywhere) faceting meetup (at least once a year, and more frequently if there’s enough interest). This is my first post to gauge interest.

Gearloose (Jon Rolfe) has agreed to come talk about laps, and Allen Petersen from Middle Earth Lapidary will show up, hopefully with some of his lovely rough.

If you’d be interested in doing this on a Saturday in the Fall, please post. If I can get 8-10 people interested, I’d start making firm plans.

    Thanks,
    Loyd

    Hi Loyd,

This is a great idea and something that will help the faceting community continue to grow.
Rennie Castileno has conducted 2 similar events the the San Francicso Bay area and has a 2 day Faceters Forum scheduled for August 20. 21. I am hoping to attend this event and would certainly attend your event depending n the date(s). Please contact me off Forum to discuss further.

Will do Tom. I need to write up something about it for the next newsletter. I’ve only gotten a little bit of interest thus far from Facebook groups and GemologyOnline.

    Thanks
    Loyd
