An ongoing issue I have had with the GMII I acquired a year ago has been getting the dop to stay put. Having used dops without keying in the older Seattle GM, I have continued to use my collection of Fac-Ette and Graves dops. It has been difficult — and in some cases impossible — to keep certain dops from turning hand tightening as much as I could.

So recently a series of comments in the Facebook Fac-Ette users group mentioned replacements for the original collets. On such item was the Lyndex E11-016. After spending some time with Google, I found that it actually was available from Amazon. So easy shopping.

The difference is night and day! It no longer is a test of hand strength to secure the dop exactly the way I need it. For a change it was the tool, not the tool user at fault.

Glad you found it, I posted that solution on Wyatt Yeager’s group FB page a while back. I ordered three different collets until I found that the Lyndex one worked and was actually made correctly. I seldom use the keys either. nearly useless and they slow me down. They just add an unnecessary level of complexity.

Thanks for that info. I had posted quite a while ago on the GO forum about the problem, but the response was more in the direction that the dops were the problem. While it was a used machine, it was new for me. As my old Seattle GM has been problematic with the dops since very early on, I was almost to the point of thinking that difficulty getting the dops secured was just the nature of the beast.

Hopefully this information will help others who may be finding it hard to get the dops secure.
