In Australia, one of my learners is considering buying one of these machines. Having had no direct experience of the machine, I am looking for an unbiased opinion on the merits of the machine from any users.
I am aware of the negative comments re service elsewhere in the forum – that would not be an issue here as local back-up would be available.

In my opinion, the machine is excellent, especially for the price. The head was designed by Jon (Gearloose) Rolfe, a recommendation in itself.

The negative comments are years old. There’s a couple I’ve seen more recent, dealing with a motor problem and service. I think the gearloose head is a big positive, also the price. As far as i’m concerned any company that tries to make this hobby more affordable for lovers of the shiny, well they get two thumbs way up. I’ll be ordering mine within a couple of months. Hopefully some 5XL owners will comment on their machine. I would like to here their experience. Another thing, I’ve seen only one 5XLfor sale on Ebay and it was gone quick.
