Hello, I’m a new member and felt it appropriate to introduce and say a bit about myself.
I’m a prior service member and engineer living in Murrells Inlet, SC. I’ve made jewelry as a hobby following an early retirement about 8 years ago. Since then, the hobby has grown into more complicated designs, casting my own components and making cabochons. Increasingly, the readily available gemstones didn’t fully meet my needs, and from the beginning there was always a strong desire to facet my own anyway. So, after much research, I ordered a faceting machine last week.
I’m looking forward to meeting and learning from other members in the guild, and finding a few good sources for classes, materials and accessories. I’m aware of the William Holland School, and the Franklin, NC show because we have a getaway cabin just 40 miles from either place, but have never attended either. So finding more about these is another goal. Other than that, Tom Herbst book has been very informative, along with google searches and some better You-Tube videos. Any advice and recommendations are greatly appreciated.
