Maybe 2 months ago there was a discussion thread regarding how to match earrings from a boule of lab grown sapphire. I described cutting a section wide enough for two earrings perpendicular to the length (“C” axis). You end up with a half cylinder. Cut along the “C” axis to get 2 quarter cylinders (piece of pie shapes). Take one of the quarter cylinders and cut in half from the rind to the tip. You now have 2 smaller pieces that were side by side. For each piece make the tip the pavilion and the rind the crown.

The colors should match. I repeated this for the 2nd time with a good result. In summary, side by side matches. Tip to tip may not.
