Forums Polishing Best Diamond Dust Polishing Compound for Fine Finishing?

That’s a great question – getting a true mirror finish without rounding edges can be tricky, especially with hard stones where over-polishing can soften your facets. From my own experiments, finer grits around the 0.5–1 µm range tend to give the best balance between surface clarity and edge retention, and using a firm polishing lap (like leather or treated canvas) helps keep those angles sharp. Dilution and pad choice make a surprising difference too; too much slurry and you get smearing, too little and you get slow results. This actually reminds me of Geometry Dash Unblocked – especially the way you have to balance precision and timing. In the game, if you’re even a little off on your jumps, you’ll “round the edges” of a challenge and wipe out, whereas perfect timing gets you through cleanly.

For me the key is matching the right polish surface to the Gem being polished. A harder gem on a softer lap tends to mean way to long to get your polish resulting in softer facet lines.
