Has anyone used those mobile detailers or is it better to take the car in?
I’m trying to decide what to do about getting my Charger detailed because honestly it’s been ages since I gave it any proper attention and the paint is looking pretty sorry for itself with all these swirls and water spots that seem to have multiplied over the last few months. I’ve seen a bunch of ads for mobile detailing services that come to your home or office and it sounds super convenient but I’m kind of skeptical about whether they can do as good a job as a proper shop with all the right equipment and lighting. Like I get that they bring their own water tanks and generators and stuff but are they really able to do paint correction properly without a proper indoor bay and good lighting to check their work as they go? I’d hate to pay good money and end up with holograms all over the car because they couldn’t see what they were doing in the sun. On the other hand taking it somewhere means I have to drop it off and figure out how to get home and then pick it up again later which is a bit of a hassle but I feel like the results are probably more consistent if the shop has a proper setup. I’ve been looking into a few places and came across one that offers a Premium Dodge detailing service in Abu Dhabi which seems to specialize in American cars which is a plus since they’d know the specific paint characteristics of Mopar vehicles. Has anyone here used both types of services and can compare the quality? I’m leaning towards taking it to a shop for the first proper detail just to get it back to a good baseline and then maybe using a mobile guy for maintenance washes in between. But honestly I’m open to whatever actually gives the best results because I really want this car to look as good as it did when I first bought it.
